This five-part miniseries about a band of thousand-year-old plus zombie Viking marauders turning up to pillage and slaughter the people of 2003 New York with only the God of Thunder and his thees and thous to bar their way, written by our favorite mad Irish scribe is not deep, nor clever. It is not among Ennis' best works; yet this series, with its straightforward and non-stop action and graphic violence, was the one that kick-started and gave new vigor to a moribund Marvel title. Glenn Fabry's highly detailed artwork that emphasizes anatomical features is just perfect for Ennis' approach. Yes, I dare say the duo may have been responsible for initiating Thor's transition from the old-school venerable Avenger of Jack Kirby and cementing his place among the hard-edged and very popular frontliners of the current Siege event.

Eric Brooks (Blade) was born October 24, 1929 in London brothel. His mother, a prostitute, during pregnancy has been bitten by a vampire named Frost, resulting in a boy was born Dampier (analogy with the D-Vampire Hunter). He was not afraid of light and had part of vampire power.
As a child, Eric was rescued from the vampires man named Jamal Affari, jazzman, who taught him music and martial arts. When his friend was killed Affari Dracula, Blade began to hunt for him, becoming the enemy from now on the vampire hunter. He was chasing Dracula around the globe, but was not able to kill him. During fights with Dracula, Blade found in their immunity to vampire bites. Later he began to hunt for the murderer of his mother, Frost.

Thor: Tales of Asgard by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby is a six-issue limited series collecting the backup stories of the title character as they originally appeared in the 1960's Marvel title Journey Into Mystery. I grew up on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and I still have some of these old comics, the covers and pages crisscrossed with folds and creases, for we read and re-read them during those days, unlike now when comic books are encased in acetate and valued not for their content but for whatever price they might bring on eBay. Imho nobody can, or shall ever beat, the tandem of Lee and Kirby in portraying the original Marvel Superheroes in action. Highly recommended.
